The model features a hybrid 2.9L V6 powertrain that delivers 830 horsepower, making it the best-in-class. It is also noteworthy that this is the first six-cylinder model to bear the iconic Prancing Horse badge. The design of the model is inspired by the Dino and 250 Le Mans models of the past. The Ferrari 296 GTB boasts an eye-catching and daring exterior design, coupled with exceptional performance that sets new records. The compact supercar is equipped with rear-wheel drive and offers exceptional hypercar performance. The 296 GTB features a 120° V-shaped engine configuration, commonly referred to as the “piccolo V12”.
This innovative design incorporates two turbochargers within the engine’s V-shape, resulting in notable enhancements in power, heat dissipation, and weight reduction. The V6 Internal Combustion Engine of the vehicle produces a record-setting 663 horsepower, while the rear-mounted plug-in (PHEV) electric motor generates an additional 167 horsepower.
The 296 GTB boasts impressive performance metrics, including the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty miles per hour in less than three seconds and reach a top speed of 205 miles per hour. These remarkable feats are made possible by the vehicle’s exceptional combined power output, which sets a new standard for rear-wheel-drive sports cars and signals a new era for the renowned Italian automaker.
The 296 GTB’s electric motor is equipped with MGU-K technology, which is inspired by Ferrari’s renowned Formula One team. This technology enables the motor to charge the high voltage battery with a capacity of 7.45 KwH. Additionally, the vehicle’s wheelbase has been shortened. The battery system has been designed to provide a maximum of 15 miles of electric-only range in eDrive mode. It has been engineered with precision to assist the dual-clutch transmission in delivering prompt inputs from the 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Ferrari has implemented a fully digital interface in its latest vehicle, the SF90 Stradale, which includes a touch-sensitive steering wheel and vehicle control system. This design has been carried forward in subsequent models. The vehicle is equipped with both a conventional Ferrari Manettino and an integrated eManettino.
The eManettino allows for the selection of various drive modes, including eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify. Upon start-up, the 296 GTB is programmed to automatically operate in Hybrid mode, which provides notable fuel efficiency for everyday use.
