Gordon & MacPhail 1948 from Glen Grant Distillery

Surprisingly, when you drink a good scotch or wine, you will imagine yourself as the king of this world. Old is gold, for the alcohol industry. For that, Glen Grant Distillery presents something old (the Gordon & MacPhail) with new branding for the Private Collection named- ‘Gordon & MacPhail 1948’. It’s the exceptional & most aged phrase from the legendary ‘Speyside distillery’ ever bottled yet. The release also follows this 50-year-old ‘Gordon & MacPhail 1968’ by Caol Ila Distillery, which is the very aged single malt ever offered by the Islay distillery.

Thereupon, this unique ‘Gordon & MacPhail 1948’ by Glen Grant Distillery was cultured in Cask 2154, which was the 1st fill Sherry butt, delightedly filled on 11th June 1948. The cask was watched (while it became perfect) by the members of 4 generations of ‘Urquhart family’. The John Urquhart preferred the cask with George- his son back in 1948. George supervises the storage in the fabled Warehouse No-5 at Glen Grant Distillery. Ian, his eldest son also carefully watches the whiskey. In May 1968 they decided that the Sherry butt has to be transferred to the ‘Gordon & MacPhail’s Elgin’ warehouse. After several years, Stuart- the company’s Operations Director & Ian’s nephew selected the Cask No-2154 for bottling on 19th October 2018 as ‘Gordon & MacPhail 1948’.

This whiskey has a strength of ABV 48.6%. This limited single malt is offered in a decorated hand-blown crystal decanter. This first-class whiskey is framed in a dazzling wooden presentation case. The case is not just impressive, but with doors that smoothly slide open, thus the ‘Gordon & MacPhail 1948’ will come out.

Certainly, the ‘Gordon & MacPhail 1948’ is limited edition (Only 210 bottles are made) & priced at £17500. You can buy them in the United States in spring 2019. If you want to test history, you should buy one & enjoy!
